In 2003 there were 17,013 fatalities in alcohol-­related crashes. Alcohol was involved in 40% of all traffic fatalities in 2003.

Use Your Seat Belts
It is estimated that safety belts saved 14,903 lives in 2003 and that 446 children under age 5 were saved as a result of child restraint use.

Children in rear-facing child seals should not be placed in the front seat of vehicles equipped with passenger-side air bags. It is recommend that children 12 and under sit in the rear seat, away from the force of a deploying air bag.
